Minding your medications
Learn why it matters and how to stay on track.

Taking medications as prescribed is essential for managing your health. That means following the correct dose and timing. Here’s how to make it easier.
Take advantage of convenient services
Managing your medications doesn’t have to be a hassle. These services can help:
- Optum Rx® home delivery and auto refills. Get medications delivered to your door and sign up for automatic refills. Visit ibxmedicare.com/mailorder to learn more.
- The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan. Spread your out-of-pocket prescription drug costs into monthly payments instead of paying in full at the pharmacy or by mail order. It won’t save you money, but it can help you budget your costs. Visit ibxmedicare.com/ira for details.
Ask about a 90-day supply
A 90-day prescription fill can reduce pharmacy trips and make it easier to stay on track with your medications. Ask your doctor about writing you a 90-day prescription.
Dr. Ramos says: All medications have side effects. Tell your doctor or pharmacist everything you take, so they can help keep you safe.
Manage your medications with our Medication Therapy Management Program
In collaboration with PerformRxSM, we offer a Medication Therapy Management (MTM) program for eligible members to ensure they receive the most effective medications for treating their condition while minimizing side effects — at no cost.
This program is voluntary and free. If you qualify, you will be enrolled automatically. You can decide not to participate at any time, and you will be removed from the program.
Visit ibxmedicare.com/mtm or call PerformRx at 1-888-349-0501 (TTY/TDD: 1-888-765-6351) Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., to learn more.
Choose a nearby pharmacy
Having a pharmacy close to home makes it easier to pick up your medications. Find one near you at ibxmedicare.com/pharmacyfinder.
Talk to your doctor and follow a safe tapering plan before stopping medication
Always consult your doctor before stopping or changing a medication, even if you feel better. Stopping suddenly can be dangerous and may lead to withdrawal symptoms or a worsening condition. Your doctor can create a safe tapering plan to minimize side effects and ensure a smooth transition.
